Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Building a Strong Foundation for Learning
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten are important first steps in a child’s educational journey. In Pittsfield Public Schools, our early learning programs provide children with a welcoming, supportive environment where they can build confidence, develop relationships, and grow as learners.
Pre-Kindergarten provides young children with opportunities to develop early academic, social-emotional, communication, and independence skills through engaging, age-appropriate experiences. Children learn through play, exploration, conversation, hands-on activities, and meaningful interactions with teachers and peers.
Kindergarten builds upon these early experiences as children transition into their first year of elementary school. Students develop foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning while learning how to navigate the routines and expectations of school.
Both programs focus on the whole child, helping students develop the skills they need to be successful in school and beyond. Our goal is to create positive early experiences that inspire curiosity, encourage independence, and establish a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Massachusetts Early Education & Care: Programs are designed to support the Massachusetts Early Learning Standards and provide children with developmentally appropriate learning experiences that prepare them for continued success in school.
