About the English Language Learners Department

At Pittsfield Public Schools, we believe that language opens doors to learning, connection, and opportunity. We recognize that multilingualism is a strength, and we are committed to creating welcoming, inclusive schools where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

The English Language Learners (ELL) Department partners with students, families, educators, and the community to support multilingual learners as they develop English language proficiency while continuing to build upon the knowledge, experiences, and cultural perspectives they bring to our schools. We celebrate the diversity of our students and believe that every language and culture enriches our classrooms and strengthens our community.

Our dedicated team provides high-quality English language instruction, individualized support, and collaboration with classroom teachers to ensure students have equitable access to rigorous, grade-level learning in every content area. Through engaging instruction and meaningful learning experiences, we help students strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while building the confidence and academic foundation needed for success in school, college, careers, and beyond.

We are also committed to building strong partnerships with families by providing resources, communication, and support throughout each student's educational journey. Whether your family is new to Pittsfield Public Schools or has been part of our community for years, we are here to help every multilingual learner thrive and reach their full potential.
