  • Richmond Students

Non-resident students who wish to enroll in a CTE (Career Technical Education) program, including career exploratory program, must submit a nonresident tuition application form along with corresponding enrollment materials. Parts I and II on the application must be received by the Receiving District for completion by March 15; and must be forwarded to the District of Residence for completion of Part III by April 1.

What is the screening process, and how will I know if my child is accepted?

Non-resident 8th and 9th grade students that expect to be promoted are eligible to apply for admission. Admission to CTE is determined by the criteria contained in this policy and the availability of openings in the program. Resident students will be given consideration first. NRT applications must be received no later than March 15. Families are also welcome to contact our office to find out about a student’s status.

Special Education placement of non-resident students shall be authorized in accordance with the provisions of approved educational plans subject to the authorization of the Superintendent. Special Education Compliance Criterion will be an important factor in accepting tuition requests. Families will work through their local special education departments to arrange these placements and tuition arrangements. The Pittsfield Public Schools Special Education Department can be contacted at 499-9515.

English Language Learner placement shall be authorized in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 71A English Learner Education in Public Schools. Acceptance of tuition requests will be dependent upon the amount of space available in the program, as is a function of compliance requirements. Families should work with their home districtto provide services and/or arrange a tuition placement with the Pittsfield Public Schools. The Pittsfield Public Schools also maintains a tuition agreement with the Town of Richmond. Students who want to enroll in either Pittsfield High School or Taconic High School may register directly at the school. Orientation sessions will be offered to Richmond grade 8 students in the winter/spring of the preceding school year. They will be afforded the opportunity to visit and tour the school, and parents will have an opportunity to learn more about programs offered at the Pittsfield high schools. Once Richmond students register in the Pittsfield Public Schools, their choices of academic and vocational program are processed as though they were residents of Pittsfield.
