The Parent-Child Home Program

What is the Parent-Child Home Program?

PCHP is a home-based parenting, early literacy, and school readiness program designed to help strengthen verbal interaction and educational play between parents and their young children. PCHP supports and strengthens parents’ skills in enhancing their children’s cognitive development and school readiness.

If accepted into the Parent-Child Home Program what can I expect?

The Parent-Child Home Program is now in its thirty-eighth year with the Pittsfield School Department. This free early childhood program for 2- & 3-year-old children gives a fun start to their education. We send trained Home Visitors to work with two- and three-year-old children and their parents. We provide educational books and toys and model fun ways to use them. These books and toys are provided at no cost and are theirs to keep for continued enjoyment. Children who complete two years of the home program then go on to the Four-Year Old program at either Conte or Morningside Community School.

Who is eligible to apply to participate in the Parent-Child Home Program?

Two and three year olds….and their parents!
