Career and Technical Education is available at Pittsfield High School and Taconic High School.

Pittsfield Public Schools offers thirteen Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for high school students who reside in Pittsfield as well as for high school students from our neighboring communities. Our programs prepare students for high-demand careers as well as post-secondary education. The courses are challenging and rigorous. A student enrolled in a Career and Technical Education program must take the same core academic courses offered to their college preparatory peers.

It is recommended that the students enroll in the Career Exploratory program at their high school in their freshmen year. During their time in the Career Exploratory course the student will rotate through all the CTE programs offered at his or her high school.  At the end of the exploratory process, students who qualify can be enrolled into the program of their choice. Program placement is based on the criteria contained in the admissions policy.

Students residing outside of Pittsfield may also apply to the district’s CTE programs. There are specific rules and laws relating to nonresident acceptance. For more information please contact the CTE office at 413-448-9601.
